King Salmon: The Ultimate Freshwater Battle

If you are looking for the most exhilarating freshwater fishing experience available, look no further than our King Salmon charters. Captain Jordan utilizes specialized boats and multiple highly effective methods to put you on these giant fish in two premier locations: Betsie Lake/River and Pere Marquette Lake.

The Fight is On: Rod-in-Hand Salmon Action. We offer active, rod-in-hand techniques designed to trigger the powerful strikes King Salmon are known for.

1. Betsie & Pere Marquette Lakes/Harbors: Targeting Staging Kings

For our lake and harbor trips, we use a luxurious and comfortable Ranger boat to target the massive schools of King Salmon staging just before their river run.

Aggressive Jigging: Once we locate the school using our advanced electronics, we drop heavy jigging spoons directly into the pile, aggressively triggering a reaction strike from the biggest kings. This method leads to immediate, intense battles!

Suspended Skein: We also run natural skein (cured salmon eggs) underneath floats. This slower, enticing presentation is often key to hooking up with kings that aren't aggressively chasing spoons.

2. Betsie River: Drifting the Holes

When we transition to the river system, we fish out of a 16-foot drift boat, perfect for stealthily navigating and targeting the deep holes where the biggest kings hold.

Early Morning Reaction: River trips often start before daylight. We begin by throwing body baits to trigger explosive reaction bites from resting fish as they stage.

Float Drifting: As the light comes up, we switch to drifting skein and beads underneath a float through the deep holes. This natural presentation is critical for catching giants that are locked into the river current.
